Operakällaren

- culinary sensations since 1787

We are honored to have been entrusted with the task of bringing Operakällaren into the 2020s. Under Tore Wretman’s leadership, Operakällaren became an internationally renowned institution. Now, we move forward, infusing the experience with a modern, inclusive touch, reflecting today’s society both culturally and gastronomically.

At Operakällaren, we deeply honor the remarkable legacy of Tore Wretman, whose vision and pioneering spirit laid the foundation of this institution. Equally important to us is continuing the journey begun by our beloved Daniel Höglander.

Guided by Daniel’s vision and his unwavering passion for inclusive gastronomy, we are committed to shaping a dining experience that is heartfelt, innovative, and welcoming to all. His influence will forever inspire and guide us on our path forward.

We look forward to welcoming you to Operakällaren, where warmth, genuine hospitality, and personality are at the core of everything we do.

Christmas dinner

Welcome to Operakällaren’s Christmas dinner – a celebration of tradition, togetherness, and warmth. We serve a classic Swedish Christmas buffet as tradition dictates. In addition to the buffet, you can also enjoy table-served delicacies like lobster, bleak roe and stockfish. Among the drinks, you’ll find our house-crafted Stenborgare, a spiced spirit with roots from the 1790s, flavored with fennel, anise, citrus, orange, and chervil.

Christmas Dinner in the Grand Hall / Dining Room

Enjoy a classic Swedish Christmas dinner in the Grand Hall — a magnificent dining room adorned with centuries of history. This is Operakällaren at its most iconic: refined, timeless, and unforgettable.

Christmas Dinner on the Verandah / Terrace

Directly connected to the Grand Hall, the Verandah is a glass-enclosed dining room with sweeping views of the waterfront and the Royal Palace. A setting like no other – elegant, atmospheric, and steeped in seasonal charm.

The Christmas experience is priced at 1795 SEK and is available from November 26th to December 24th.

Warmly welcome to an enduring Christmas tradition at Operakällaren!

Soirée de luxe

On Thursday, October 23 at 6 PM, eighteen guests will gather in the Steinwall Room. One table only. One room, one moment shared.

This is an evening created by our executive chef Emanuel Tärnqvist, where indulgence knows no restraint. Caviar and truffle stand at the very center, guiding a menu that pushes every boundary of decadence.

Joining us are Nils Rosvall from Tryffelkranen together with Curt-Anton Bengtsson and Frida Lübeck from Imperial Caviar. They will share their insight into truffle and caviar throughout the evening – and may share a little extra beyond what is written on the menu.

The intimacy of dining together becomes part of the experience, as every course, every glass, unfolds as a collective journey.

9000 SEK per guest, including wine pairing.

This evening we are unable to accommodate allergies or special dietary requests, and each reservation is limited to a maximum of 4 guests.

Chambre Séparée

Steinwallsrummet, our Chambre Séparée, accommodates up to 18 guests around an elegant oval table. The room honors Georg and Gustaf Steinwall, who reopened Operakällaren in 1895, with our modern take on Swedish gastronomy.

An evening here is one of decadence and togetherness, with a seasonal menu that highlights the finest ingredients of the day. We offer a 3-course menu, complemented by Hors d’œuvre and Mignardise, with many dishes served family-style. The set menu is 2800 SEK per person, with optional wine packages. The room can be private or open to the dining room.

Private gathering in Nobiskällaren

Opened in 1961 as Sweden’s first temperature-controlled wine cellar, Nobiskällaren is a haven for some of the world’s finest vintages. Legend has it that Tore Wretman sprayed wine on the walls and ceiling for six months to achieve its distinctive patina and aroma. With rare treasures dating back to Wretman’s era, this cellar is truly one of a kind.

Nobiskällaren now invites you to a private gathering where wine takes center stage. Enjoy an exclusive 3-course menu, complemented by Hors d’œuvre and Mignardise, meticulously paired with exceptional wines for a one-of-a-kind experience. Perfect for groups of 10–16 guests, the set menu is priced from 5000 SEK per person including wine pairing.
